A WOMAN from Tower Hamlets and a man from Brixton were jailed this week on several counts related to child abuse. And now police have asked the public to come forward if they have any concerns about the man’s behaviour with any other children.
It’s a complicated story and, to protect a child who was involved in these crimes, not all the details can be released.
The man sentenced this week at Snaresbrook Crown Court is Ferdous Ahmad, 38, of Queensbridge Road, Brixton. He was sent to prison for 12 years and issued with a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and a Restraining Order. He had been convicted at the same court on 30th September, after a two week trial, of:
•two counts of sexual assault
•engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child
•inciting a child to engage in sexual activity
•sexual communication with a child
•two counts of causing a child to engage in sexual activity
•inciting a child to engage in sexual activity
Detective Constable Matthew Cranston from the East Child Abuse Investigation Team spoke out about the sigificance of this long list of charges. “We remain seriously concerned about the predatory nature of Ahmad’s offending in this case. If you recognise him and have a specific concern about his interaction with a child, please get in touch with us on 101, via @MetCC on X, or make a report on the Met’s wesbite.”
A woman was convicted alongside Ahmad on two counts of causing a child to engage in sexual activity and a count of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. She was also sentenced last week and was sent to prison for five years. The police have confirmed that she is from Devas Street and she is not being named to avoid the child being identified.
DC Cranston added, “This has been a truly harrowing experience for the child and I am glad that both people involved have received appropriate prison sentences.” It is up to the whole community to make sure that no more children suffer in this way.
