IT ALL WENT wrong when Isakov Akhmad, 42, and Firuz Raupov, also in his 40s, had an argument. The two had shared a house in Thorogood Gardens, Stratford, E15.
The argument began in the early hours of Sunday, 9th June. It led to Akhmad assaulting Raupov with a dumbbell, leaving him with severe head injuries that were life-changing. The police acted quickly – finding Akhmad around three hours after the assault and arresting him. They investigated the incident and collected evidence, before charging him with attempted murder on 15th June.
Akhmad was found guilty of attempted murder at Snaresbrook Crown Court on 4th December. He was remanded in custody and will return to the Court for sentencing on 31st March.
Speaking after the verdict, Detective Constable Sorcha Homer said, “This was a very traumatic incident and it is highly satisfying to have achieved some sort of justice for the victim and his family with a dangerous man now facing a prison sentence.”
