Lutfur Rahman says Bangla Drama fills us with hope

AS THE “Season of Bangla Drama” comes of age with its 21st annual theatre festival, Tower Hamlets Executive Mayor Lutfur Rahman has congratulated all involved.

“We are so proud that Tower Hamlets continues to champion this fantastic platform for homegrown talent. A Season of Bangla Drama delivers a diverse programme of plays for audiences old and new, from all ages and backgrounds, and continues to be relevant to call communities in East London today,” he said.

Cllr Kamrul Hussain, Cabinet Member for Culture and Recreation, echoed the Mayor’s enthusiasm, saying, “A Season of Bangla drama reminds us of the power and positive influences of art, literature and poetry. […] We hope you can make the most of this varied and meaningful festival.”

Mayor Lutfur Rahman also welcomed this year’s theme – hope – which, he said, we needed more than ever. The festival will also cover theme such as climate change and traditional theatre will be enhanced by music, movement and dance.
