Suspect Anthony Chieke

A MOSQUE at Manor Park was one of eight mosques which lost cash in a burglary last year. The sums stolen are thought to amount to a substantial haul.

Now police have released details of a man they wish to speak to in connection with twelve offences – the mosque burglaries and procedural offences such as failure to appear in court and bail offences.

He is Anthony Chieke, who goes by several other names, including Abraham Jakoboits. Chieke’s most distinctive feature is his height – 6 foot 8 inches. He is 55 years old, with a shaved head and facial stubble.

Chieke was last seen in Mitcham, south London, in May. He could be anywhere now, and with a history of mosque burglaries possibly behind him, mosques and their congregations are asked to be especially vigilant.

If you know of Chieke’s current or recent whereabouts, or if you have any information which may help police to find him, please report this to the police online or by calling 101. Please quote reference 3239/05OCT24. Alternatively you can contact Crimestoppers on 0800-555 111 and give information anonymously.
